Inspiration: Father's Day
It's oh so quiet around here, and I'm sorry for that but I'm busy moving my home and remodeling the new one. And yes, it's settled, I'm getting an Expedit for my scrappy stuff! Woohooo!
Tomorrow is Father's Day but luckily for me, Swedish Father's Day isn't until November! So I have plenty of time for making those cards. The elegant card above is created by Robin Shakoor with A Proper Gentleman from Graphic 45. That is my favorite collection for scrapping and cardmaking for the gentlemen in my life, so Robin's card is a great inspiration that I'd like to save here until November. I love how she's used the metal hinges! There are more gorgeous cards on the blog of Graphic 45.

Collage Composition
I signed up for an online class, Composition for Collage with Claudine Helmuth on Big Picture Classes. I've been wanting to learn more about composition, and now I'm having such a wonderful time! I've always loved collages because of all the layers and all that's going on in one picture. Collage is an awesome art form because, like in scrapbooking, everyone can do it and get amazing results even if you couldn't draw a straight line.
Here's my home assignment for week 1, made with images from the downloadable image sheets that are included in the class along with weekly handouts and slide presentations with audio. I added some pics from my own digital stash and one illustration that I found with Google images. Since I'm in the process of moving home and our printer died a couple of weeks ago, I chose to create my collage digitally in Photoshop.
It's been years since I made something just for art's sake and not for memory keeping or card making. My collage is called "But Eventually the Small Town Expectations Got to Her and She Began to Fade Away". Somehow, my art work always seems to end up in an idea about a small town girl who cannot fulfill her dreams, and there's always some dramatic twist added to it. It's been like that since I was a teenager and dabbled in painting in my free time. I don't know why. Well, I'm a small town girl that got out and fulfilled my dreams in the big city, so I really don't know what I'm complaining about. LOL! Anyway, I'm having so much fun that I'm actually thinking of making another collage for this week's assignment.

Planning My Scrapping Area
I'm down with the flu and this is an unusually long weekend in Sweden, five days off from Thursday to Monday (Ascension Day and National Day happened to be next to the same weekend this year). Isn't that just typical to catch a bug when we're supposed to start packing up our home and remodeling the new apartment? Yay! (I hope that you all heard the irony all in that? LOL!).
I'm planning my scrapping area in the new home and I'm determined that I will finally get an Expedit from Ikea. My DH is equally convinced that it won't fit in our new home office. But I'll show him! I've taken the measures of that room and I'm telling you - I will get my Expedit! I've already been to Ikea to fondle one. :)
I also have to organize my patterned paper before we move. I have so much patterned paper and it's all in a big pile right now. And more is on the way. A couple of days ago, I placed an order for October Afternoon's Rocket Age
, Cosmo Cricket's Odds & Ends and Jenni Bowlin's Haven from Two Peas in a Bucket. I can't wait to get all those new goodies!
If you'd like a closer look of those lines, I've embedded a couple of short videos from Two Peas, showing Haven and Odds & Ends. I watch a lot of scrapping videos now when I spend most of my time in bed.
