The gold fever is still going strong, and that is a really long time trend. I wrote about this trend back in March, but it actually started in July 2012 when American Crafts and Dear Lizzy added a few gold accents to a collection, and made us all go crazy about gold.
I would have expected some copper to compete, as copper is a big trend in home decor and fashion, but we scrapbookers don't want to let go of our gold! There are some occurences of 'rose gold' that is similar to copper but in a more pink/red hue. Some new lines have a little silver in them, as well as the gold, but it looks like gold is holding its place as the number one metal color.
Gold foil is the biggest metallic paper trend at the moment. There are plenty of gold foiled items in many of the new releases from CHA. The hottest of the hot is to combine the gold foil with black, white or bright red, like the pieces above, from Maggie Holmes' Confetti line and the puffy words from Pebbles' Cottage Living. That makes for a very elegant and sophisticated look.
The most common color combo is gold with pretty pastels, as the tags from Pebbles' Cottage Living below, and two out of four new lines from My Mind's Eye, On Trend and Fancy That, all have plenty of gold foiled pastel colored papers.
The gold foil craze is so strong that Heidi Swapp is releasing a gold foil machine, the Minc. With the help of that neat little thing, you can put gold foil on your projects, but to create your own designs you need a laser printer.
Do you love the gold trend? Or have you had enough of it?
